About Me
I am an Associate Professor at Drake University, where I direct the Master of Science in Leadership Development and teach various leadership courses such as Global Leadership, Leadership and Ethics, Understanding Self and Others, Leading Change, Analyzing and Communicating with Data, and Capstone Experience.
My teaching style tends to be flexible and easy-going. I strongly believe in psychological safety in the classroom - my students' safety and my own. My hope is that my students get to bring themselves to class each time, without worrying about what they can or cannot disclose. I am also grateful when my students allow me to bring my whole self to work. I am playful by nature. I bring multiple simulations and interactive activities to my classes. My classes often involve equally playful assignments (for example; "design an educational game to reinforce the class concepts," or "build a simulation to help your classmates experience what you learned in this project." Presentation days are often joyful and interesting, as students bring their top game in creativity. |
Currently, my research interests revolve around international and ethics education. I am fascinated by the use of pop culture in ethics education (for example, one of my favorite courses is Ethics and the Game of Thrones, which I teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels).
I recorded the video below to introduce myself to my students in the Fall of 2021. For a more detailed review of my background, experiences, and publications, please OPEN MY CV.
